Beer Batter Fish and Chips

Heat deep fryer to 350 F

2/3 cup cornstarch

1/2 cup flour

1 tsp Cranky Jimmy's Original

Add beer to preference (we use a pilsner, but lager works well too).

1/2 tsp salt if desired

Mix dry ingredients in mixer. Add beer until mixture becomes thick and smooth like pancake batter.

Coat fish in flour, then dip in batter and into hot oil for 5 mins or until done.

​

This recipe makes the batter very crunchy and crispy. For a lighter batter, add more beer and less cornstarch.

We have made onion rings with this batter and it was very good. Highly recommend. 

​

Homemade chips - cut potato horizontally, then vertically to desired thickness. Pat dry, add to hot oil, cook for 3 - 4 mins. Sprinkle with your favourite Cranky Jimmy's flavour.

The BEST homemade tartar sauce - a bunch of mayo, a little bit of mustard and some relish or chopped pickles.
