Beef & Broccoli

1 lb beef, sliced into thin strips

1 head of broccoli, cut into florets

1/4 lb mushrooms, sliced (if desired)

3 packages of Mr. Noodles, just the noodles

2/3 cup oyster sauce

1/2 cup soy sauce

1/4 cup black bean sauce

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 tbsp fresh ginger, chopped fine

1 tbsp fresh garlic, minced

1 tbsp Original (or favourite flavour)

We like to marinate the beef in a mixture of soy sauce, a little water, a little whiskey and some minced garlic, and dash of Original for an hour or so.

Mix the oyster, soy and black bean sauce along with the brown sugar, ginger, garlic and favourite Cranky Jimmy's seasoning. If too sweet, add more black bean sauce, if too salty, add more brown sugar.

Heat a large pan to very hot, we put ours on 6 or 7. Let heat for a few minutes to make sure it is good and hot, then put in a hunk of butter, getting it all over. Place the beef in the pan. Once it starts to sear, plop a spoonful of the sauce mixture into the pan. It will make the beef nice and crispy once the sauce sears. Set beef aside. Without wiping out the pan, fry the broccoli and mushrooms separately. If desired you can sear the mushrooms with the sauce like the beef - the flavour is amazing. Do not wipe out the pan.

In a large pot, boil enough water to cook the 3 packages of Mr. Noodles noodles. Turn off the heat, place noodles in water for 3 minutes or until they are just cooked. Place in the same hot pan with a little butter or sesame oil. Toss so all of the noodles get a little sear. Once almost done, plop 3 or 4 spoonfuls of sauce into the noodles and toss until fully coated. Serve as shown.
